PROGRAM DIRECTOR

RONNIE

GRANDISON

​

Coach Ronnie Grandison has been training and teaching kids basketball in the Cincinnati area for over 20 years. Ronnie is a former NBA player and has played with the Boston Celtics, Miami Heat, Charlotte Hornets, Atlanta Hawks and New York Knicks.  He also played NCAA Division 1 Basketball for the University of New Orleans.  At New Orleans, Ronnie led the Privateers to their first Division 1 “Big Dance” tournament appearance and a NCAA Division 1 top 20 ranking.  Ronnie played professionally in the CBA where, in 1994, he was voted Most Valuable Player. He has played basketball all over the world: Spain, Venezuela, the Philippines, Israel, and Australia, and others. Ronnie has a passion for teaching basketball and the principles of life through the game. Ronnie has been married for 26 years and has his own team of 5 children.

OPERATIONS MANAGER
TORRY
CORNETT

 

Torry is a native of Columbus Ohio and brings a wealth of knowledge in the field of athletics. Torry received the rare opportunity to play both Division I Football and Basketball. In 2005, he started shooting guard for Prairie View A&M University and later transferred to the University of Cincinnati where he started linebacker in the 2009 Fed Ex Orange Bowl. Torry later played professional football n the German Football League for two seasons.

 

Torry’s athletics administration experience was developed as he spent 5 years working in Higher Education Administration at Mount St. Joseph University for 2 years and 3 years working in the Athletics Department at the University of Cincinnati as the Associate Director of Student Athlete Support Services. Torry also spent time as a high school basketball coach and Director of Athletics at DePaul Cristo Rey High School. In his free time Torry enjoys helping parents get their students recruited for college, the real estate industry, and spending time with his two children and lovely wife.

DIRECTOR OF BASKETBALL

JALEN

GOODWIN

 

 

Jalen Goodwin has a decade of college coaching experience in the NCAA, NAIA and high school divisions at the University of Northwestern Ohio, Otterbein University, Oberlin College and Mount St. Joseph University. Known as a tactician and student of basketball, he helped numerous players earn postseason honors, become all-time leaders in assists and scoring and helped programs improve. He is a member of the Black Coaches Association.


As a four-year letterman and a captain for the College of Wooster Fighting Scots, Goodwin helped the program to a 100-20 record, four consecutive 20-win seasons and four postseason appearances in the NCAA Tournament, reaching the Sweet 16 twice. At the conclusion of his playing days, he ranked as the top 3-point shooter in the NCAC as a sophomore and received numerous postseason honors.

 

Goodwin graduated from Wooster in 2015 with a degree in Communication Studies and obtained his master's degree in Allied Health in Exercise and Health Science from Ottenbein University in 2018. He played prep ball both as an all-conference and all-academic player at Lakota East High School, which was nationally ranked during his senior season. Goodwin and his wife Corinne have one son, KJ, and two dogs.

DIRECTOR OF GIRLS BASKETBALL

BROOKE

SPAULDING

 

 

Brooke Spaulding, a native of Cincinnati, Ohio, is a proud graduate of Central State University, where she earned her bachelor's degree in Science. During her time at Central State, she made significant contributions to the Women’s Basketball team as a four-year captain, helping the program grow and earning multiple in-season and post-season honors. 

 

After the impact of COVID-19, Brooke extended her collegiate career with a graduate year at Winston-Salem State University, where she became a key player. Her professional basketball journey includes playing overseas in the Netherlands and Portugal, showcasing her skills and dedication on an international stage.

 

Brooke's passion for basketball extends beyond playing. Recently, she served as the Head Coach for DePaul Cristo Rey’s Girls Basketball Team, leading the team to a record-setting 16-6 season and winning the CMAC Blue Conference.

 

Brooke's love for the game began at the young age of 6 and has only grown over the years. With her extensive experience in playing, coaching, and training, she is poised to continue making a significant impact on the next generation of basketball players.

DIRECTOR OF BASKETBALL LEAGUES

JAMES

MILLEN

​

 

James C. Millen is a dedicated and experienced basketball coach with an extensive background in player development and coaching at various levels. With a Bachelor of Science degree in Justice Studies (Crime & Criminology) from James Madison University, James has honed his coaching skills through a variety of roles.

 

His coaching journey includes serving as the Assistant Varsity Coach at Cathedral Catholic High School, where he focuses on defensive strategies and player development for students in grades 9-12. Additionally, James has showcased his coaching prowess internationally at The Affiliate High School of Peking University in Beijing, China, where he coached basketball players aged 15 to 18, preparing them for opportunities in the Chinese youth basketball league and potential selection for the national team.

 

James has also held leadership positions such as Head Coach for The Cincinnati Warriors, a professional men's basketball team in The Basketball League, known for providing pathways to the NBA, G-League, and overseas contracts. His collegiate coaching experience includes roles at Cincinnati State Technical & Community College and James Madison University, where he contributed to player development and team management.

 

Furthermore, James has actively engaged with youth basketball programs, demonstrating his commitment to nurturing young talent. His involvement as a coach and counselor in various basketball camps and leagues both nationally and internationally underscores his passion for developing players of all ages.

 

With a wealth of coaching experience across professional, collegiate, high school, and youth levels, James C. Millen continues to make a significant impact in the realm of basketball coaching, shaping the skills and character of aspiring athletes under his guidance.

BGFIT COACH

BARB

GRANDISON

​

Barb is the mother of five children and the wife of Ronnie Grandison. She currently runs BG FIT and is the fitness/marketing director at RG Basketball Academy. Barb began her fitness career 35 years ago as an aerobics instructor. She taught aerobics at the world famous Mayo Clinic, was a professional cheerleader, and taught fitness at professional athletes conference. Barb was formerly the owner of Solid Sweat, Inc., the fitness director at Courts of Praise Christian Center, and the aerobics director at International Health Spa. 

 

AFAA certified fitness, kickboxing, indoor spin, and weight room instructor, as well as a certified personal trainer. eCornell certified in plant based nutrition.
